Venue Rules

By paying the entrance fee, visitors agree to follow the venue rules so every family can enjoy a peaceful day.

No music, not even from your phone or car.
No pets allowed, not even a puppy.
Adult supervision of children is required at all times.
Own food and drinks allowed. Beers, wines and ciders only. No hard liquor or mixes.
No swimming in the dams. Kids may only use the splash pool in proper swimwear.
No drones, hubbly-bubbly, profanity or disturbing other guests.
Right of admission reserved. Misbehaving groups may be asked to leave.
Weekend and public-holiday gate closes strictly at 17:45.

Fishing rules

Gnu Valley is a catch-and-release venue for carp, bass and kurper.

Ages 12+: maximum 2 rods per fishing person.

Children 11 and younger may fish with 1 age-appropriate rod only. Adult rods may not be used by children in this age group.

Children's rod lengths: ages 3 to 5, maximum 1.2 m; ages 6 to 8, 1.2 m to 1.5 m; ages 9 to 11, 1.5 m to 1.8 m.

Rods longer than the approved length for a child's age are treated as adult rods and are not permitted for child use.

These rules help keep fishing fair for all guests and ensure that everyone fishing is booked correctly.

Single barbless hooks only. No double or treble hooks.

No platannas, chicken livers, chicken hearts or tiger nuts.

Wet your hands, use a soft net and keep fish off hot cement, jetties and grass.

Children must stay near their rod while fishing; remove it from the water when they leave the area.

Kneel when holding fish and never step on them. Bring your own fishing gear; rods are not available for hire.

Quality garden products available for collection or bulk delivery.

Gnu Valley supplies organic compost and lawn dressing to nurseries, landscapers and the public. Bulk deliveries are available in most Gauteng areas with a minimum order of 3 cubes.

Delivery is quoted separately according to your area. Contact us to arrange a collection or bulk delivery.

Before your visit

Do day visitors need to book?

No booking is needed for day visitors; spaces are first come, first served. Choose one shaded area for your group and bring extra gazebos or camping chairs if needed. Party venue bookings are essential.

Are there any closure dates?

The venue is closed on 24 September for a private function, and on 25 and 26 December. Please check our notices before travelling.

Is there a coffee shop or overnight accommodation?

The coffee shop is permanently closed. Bring your own food and drinks in line with the venue rules. Accommodation and camping are not available.

Parents and guardians must supervise children and are responsible for damage to property or equipment. No indecent exposure or changing in public; please use the toilets.
